Gift from Above

Flying right into our hearts from heaven above -- our little grandson!
This was my last entry for the clean and simple challenge this week on Splitcoaststampers (SCS).   This time I used the challenge colors on the airplane and for the colored mat panel (Stampin' Up Night of Navy).    My little pilot and sentiment are both from Papertrey, Ink.    The plane was colored with Prisma and watercolor pencil.   The clouds were masked and sponged.

I will be posting some of my photographs on the blog while I'm back east for the next three weeks.  I hope you come back and visit.   But, until then, thank you so much for stopping by.  Your visits mean the world to me.   Please keep our little family in your prayers while we celebrate this joyous event.
Blessings,

P.s.  If anyone knows why I'm getting the white block behind my text please let me know.   It's been showing up like that for the past several posts and I'm unsure why.   Thanks everyone.

Lullaby

The featured stamper this past week on Splitcoaststampers (SCS) was Loll Thompson.   Loll is a fabulous clean and simple (CAS) designer in my humble opinion.    To play the challenge each participant is asked to browse Loll's gallery and choose a card to replicate (make three changes).   I wanted to make another baby card before leaving this Tuesday and so I offer this sweet lullaby to you.   Graphic 45 has long been a favorite company of mine.   From paper design to stamps they are outstanding.   This card features their Little Darlings collection.   I hope you enjoy it.

Hope you're having a wonderful weekend.   Thank you for stopping by.
Blessing,

Sit Back and Relax (Lampy)

There's just something about a Lockhart stamp.   I love little designs.  And because many of their stamps are small they color up quickly which make them a good choice for beginners.    My card today is for the Clean and Simple (CAS) Challenge 177 at SCS using navy, olive, and white in the design.  The image is colored with Copics and die cut using Spellbinders Labels Three.   I've used the challenge colors on the inside panels and included a Lockhart stamp sentiment, "Sit back and relax".    You might be asking yourself why I titled the card, "Lampy" on SCS today.   Our grown children have a lamp in their living room they named, "Lampy."    Yep, they're the ones who are going to be parents (laughing).   If you knew our families you'd know we're a funny bunch.   It doesn't take much to get us giggling.   In a few days I think I know someone who will be sitting in her favorite chair.

The card is small (4x4 finished size) so it's nicely proportioned with stamped image.  I chose to use whisper white cardstock as my base; this allows the challenge colors to provide the contrast.   Now the small colored image has the depth it needs to stand on its own.   Although the piece only contains a lamp and chair, the radient light provides warmth and the illusion you've entered a cozy room.   A perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy a good book (or hold a sweet bundle).

Plain or fancy good things do come in little packages.

The Prayer at Valley Forge

The cement of this union is the heart-blood of every American
~ Thomas Jefferson ~

Painting by Arnold Friberg
Thomas Pain wrote, "These are the times that try men's souls."    Written during the darkest hours of our nations struggle for liberty.    A struggle that brought Gen. George Washington humbly to his knees in prayer.   Surely a country had never paid such a high cost for freedom as this...   Our founding fathers knew the cost.   The struggle against tyranny and oppression will always cause suffering and pain - this we know.   But the desire for freedom is greater.

Tonight as fireworks burst in air across this great nation I will bow my knee in prayer and thank God for His grace and mercy toward our great country.   I will pray for the protection of those who serve today.   And I will thank God for those who went before; for their sacrifice, devotion, faith, and perseverance in the struggle for freedom and liberty.   Men of character who set aside the comforts of home and family to provide the sanctity and way of life we enjoy today.    The land of the free and the home of the brave.   Long may she wave.
