Sonoran Sunset

The Arizona "Monsoon" season has started. And with it, some of the most dramatic, beautiful, and at times, threatening weather you've ever seen. Last night it looked like the valley was in for a big weather event. So, my husband and I decided to do a little storm chasin' of our own. Instead of threatening thunderheads with ground to cloud lighting, we got one of our famous Sonoran sunsets. The stillness of the desert was broken only by the braying of a donkey and the low chattering of the quail families calling their young to safety for the night - magical.

Enjoy,
Susie~

You're Too Kind - TCP Challenge 116

This is my first TCP Challenge. This week the challenge hostess is Alma de la Rosa and she is challenging us to use colored pencils with Gamsol (mineral spirits). This technique produces a watercolor look and is tons of fun to try. If you're not sure how to use this medium, Alma has a nice link to a tutorial on her blog. Like Alma, I'm an ol' gal too and I enjoyed trying out this "old technique". I chose a floral stamp from the JustRite collection that looks like a geranium to me. And, with the geranium color in mind I decided on Cosmo Cricket's line (Garden Variety) mini deck for the designer paper. A little lace, ribbon and peal stick pins and done! Perfect for a thank-you card this week-end. We're on our way to Prescott, Arizona. We'll be enjoying the 4th of July festivities (rodeo, parade, BBQ, fireworks and did I mention eating?) with friends.
Factoid - this is the world's oldest rodeo, yup, since 1888. So next year, ya'll come. Have a wonderful 4th of July. See you next time.

Susie~
